What you need to know about feeding a crowd this Christmas

HOW MUCH CURED MEAT DO YOU REALLY NEED PER PERSON?

Sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming fIguring out how much food you need to feed your crowd over Christmas. You may be catering for more people than you are used to, or maybe, this year, you don’t want to be nibbling on leftovers for days and days after.

So, we have a few tips to ensure you have enough charcuterie to feed everyone, without spending more than you need to, and without having unnecessary leftovers.

PORTION SIZE

We recommend 55g of charcuterie per person if you are creating a traditional meat and cheese board. With expectations around the festive period to have full stomachs, 55g is a little more than our usual recommended portion size, but often friends and family will be prepared to enjoy a generous amount of food at this time of year. As an example, if you are feeding 6 people, our large sharing platter is the perfect choice. Each person will be able to enjoy 5 or 6 slices across a range of meats, including salamis, chorizo, pepperoni and air-dried Hargrove Coppa ham. Nestle our award-winning cured meat amongst a few cheeses, crackers and/or bread, and a few preserves and you are on to a winning combination.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

To make things simple, most of our pork salamis and chorizos are left whole in 150g sticks, so one sticks feeds roughly 3 people. Our Wild Venison range is cut into a 110g stick, so one stick feeds roughly 2 people. With per portion costs being as little as £2.30 per person if you wish, which we believe is incredible value for produce from a multi-award-winning British producer.

The majority of our range is available in both whole, and, already sliced options to give you the most flexibility when hosting your crowd. Our whole charcuterie is a smaller diameter perfect for slicing slightly thicker into one mouthful sized slice. Our pre-sliced format is a large diameter, perfect for wrapping around cheese or fruit.

READY SLICED RANGE

We offer many of our products in pre-sliced packs too, saving you a job at home (more time for wrapping presents). Each pack weighs 55g, so you would need one pack per person. For example, if shopping for 4, order 4 packs of different cured meats and you have enough meat to feed everyone, and they can have a few slices across four flavours. Delicious!

We slice our salamis and chorizos to a lovely thin 2-3mm so the meat and fat melts in the mouth.

COOK WITH CHARCUTERIE

If you do happen to have some left over, all of our range is great to cook with. Brilliant for adding to stews, soups and sauces to elevate your meal with a punch of flavour.

STORAGE

Concerned about fridge space? Is your turkey hogging all the room? All of our products can be stored at room temperature until opened, so can be stored pretty much anywhere until needed.
